Welcome to the Debtors Anonymous Meeting list.

Here are some practical notes that may help you in your early meetings.  The Traditions  keep our meetings focussed on the D.A. Program as a spiritual solution to the problem of compulsive debting.

1. You will find many different kinds of meetings (i.e., literature studies, discussion meetings, workshops or speaker shares). If you don’t like a specific meeting, go ahead and try another to find one where you feel comfortable.  D.A. recommends you attend at least six meetings to find out if D.A. is for you.

Tradition 4: “Each group should be autonomous except in matters affecting other groups or D.A. as a whole.”

2. There are never any dues or fees to attend D.A. meetings. Making a donation in D.A. is a personal decision. If you are told you must pay to attend, you are not at a D.A. meeting. Depending on your situation, you may decide to contribute every time or periodically.

Tradition 3: “The only requirement for D.A. membership is a desire to stop incurring unsecured debt.”

3. People who have a desire not to incur any new unsecured debt are welcome at all DA meetings. Some meetings will have a special focus and will be listed as such: i.e., women’s meetings, men’s meetings, BIPOC etc. If you or your recovery doesn't fit with the focus of a meeting, it's likely you will get more from a DA meeting without such a focus.

Also, there are certain meetings that specifically address business debting.  These are listed as BDA (Business Debtors Anonymous) meetings.  BDA meetings can more specifically help those who have businesses but all meetings are part of  Debtors Anonymous.

Tradition 5: “Each group has but one primary purpose - to carry the message to the debtor who still suffers.”

4. “We freely give what has been freely given to us.”

Meetings are autonomous, however we recommend that meetings do not endorse courses or workshops which are fee-paying. Donations to DA are always voluntary and for general purposes only.

Tradition 6: “A DA group ought never endorse, finance, or lend the DA name to any related facility or outside enterprise, lest problems of money, property or prestige divert us from our primary purpose.”
